Glacier National Park:
- NEW - August 2006 - Hanna and I finally made it back "home" to Montana in August 2006. It was our first trip back since we left in December 2003 to follow my job with AOL. We visited Glacier, Waterton, the Flathead, Great Falls, and Hanna's former students from Raynesford. I hope that you enjoy the large number of pictures that we took during this trip. Our trip began with landing in Great Falls, having breakfast with some of the Raynesford folks. We then moved on to Glacier, staying the first night at the Izaak Walton Inn. From there we first hiked up to Cobalt Lake at Two Medicine, then drove to Whitefish to stay at Big Mountain for the night (we also caught part of Storyhill's show in Kalispell). We drove around through Canada to Waterton the following day, generally taking it easy. The next day we drove to Babb, MT, and Many Glacier where we stayed for 2 nights. We hiked out to Grinnell Glacier the first day, and then we did a crazy thing and caught the oh-dark-thirty hiker shuttle to Logan Pass, from which we hiked to Granite Park Chalet, up and over Swiftcurrent Pass, and back to the Many Glacier area, where our rental car was parked. After this, we took our time driving over to the B&B The Way Less Traveled near Polebridge, MT, in the way out back. If you're looking for a place to get away for a couple days, I highly recommend this wonderful B&B. Despite being very remote, the accommodations are first rate - our best nights on the whole trip! From there we made our way back to Great Falls, stopping to visit friends along the way and just generally relaxing.
- Over an extended weekend in September 2003 (9/13-14) we hiked into the Granite Park Chalet where we stayed for two nights. This was our first overnight trip with full backpacks. The second night was the annual fundraiser for the Glacier Fund. Regretably, we did not enjoy the experience at all due to the large number of aged yuppies who got completely trashed on wine originally shipped in for a visit by First Lady Laura Bush (cancelled due to the fires). Unless you want to get drunk with a bunch of weirdos, we don't recommend that experience! Nonetheless, we did find time to hike up to the Swiftcurrent Lookout, which was still staffed. Check out our handful of pictures from that trip.
- In mid-July 2003 (7/11-13) I accompanied Hanna and her parents to Waterton and Glacier. They continued to hike during the week while I returned to work. Here's a small collection of photos from the time that I was with them.
- Over July 4th weekend (2003) we hiked the "big loop" in the Two Medicine, linking Pitamakan and Dawson passes in a 16.9 mile hike. We completed it in approximately 9 hours despite extreme winds, cold temperatures and light precipitation ranging from rain to snow.
- In June 2003 we spent a long weekend hiking to Siyeh Pass and Swiftcurrent pass.
- In June/July 2002 the Weiers Family decided to vacation at Glacier and Waterton Parks. Here's a limited collection of pictures from that time.
- Having moved to Montana in September 2001, it was very easy to get away for a weekend and take some beautiful pictures of the Fall scenery.
- In June 2001 we took an extended vacation to Glacier National Park and fell completely in love with it. As a result, I now have a nice collection of photographs from the our many hikes, which I hope you'll enjoy.
