On a lark, Hanna and I made a quick trip to Florida over the long 4th
of July weekend (2006) to view the launching of Space Shuttle Discovery
for Mission STS-121. Above is the official mission patch
(click
the picture to go to the official NASA mission page).
Click the picture below to walk through a few pictures from our viewing
of
the STS-121 Space Shuttle launch. The below picture was
contributed by a viewer to Florida Today, a local newspaper.
You can also
see
a picture of Hanna from the paper at floridatoday.com.
I also recommend viewing the rest of Florida Today's space
galleries.
The picture below shows Space View Park (aka Veterans Memorial Park) in
Titusville, FL. Hanna and I were on the short pier extending
from
the park in the lower left corner. We had an excellent view
of
the launch (even if my camera betteries did die at the precise time of
the
launch!).
