DAY #5 & 6 (7/5-6/2000): Gettysburg and Niagara Falls
(Click on any picture to see the full-size image.)

Gettysburg National Cemetery and Park:

Gettysburg National Cemetery and Park, as can be determined by the sign. The sign isn’t particularly interesting, I know, but it proves we were there. The second picture is just of part of the July 3rd battlefield. The last photo is of the “Bloody Angle”, from a distance, where numerous Confederate soldiers died.

Being from Minnesota, I felt it was appropriate to document our involvement. Here is the headstone accounting for the 52 Minnesotans killed in the battle. The survivors purchased and maintain a memorial to the fallen, as shown on the right.

Niagara Falls:

Lockport was a small, disappointing town. When the Eerie Canal was originally built, Lockport was the only location where locks were used. This picture shows the old lock system – 5 steps in total. Today there are 57 locks on the canal, spaced much farther apart. Two locks are located beside the original 5 locks in Lockport.

The Park Place B&B, where we spent our night. This is on the Canadian side of the river. The owners were very nice and the food for breakfast was terrific!

Niagara Falls as a whole (shot from the ground), followed by a picture of the Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls, both from the Skylon Tower.

Niagra Falls at night, illuminated.
