The Big Swing (June 2002):
Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MO: One of the main stops along our return leg was in St. Louis, MO, where I had an interview. Not wanting to pass up an opportunity for siteseeing, we took a tour of the Gateway Arch. And let me tell you -- if you're chlostrophobic or afraid of heights, this tour is not for you! The tram consisted of cars 4-feet in diameter, and the viewing platform at the top of the arch required looking out and down through observation windows. Oy!
Arches and Canyonlands National Parks: We spent less than two days total in Arches and Canyonlands, with the majority of the time in Arches. It was extremely hot, so by the time we got to Canyonlands mid-way through the second day, we were eager to head for an air conditioned hotel room in Salt Lake City. Nonetheless, I think you'll be struck by the beauty of the red desert formations.
Miscellaneous Trip Pictures: As is common with most grab-bag trips, there are odds and ends that didn't fit into the main categories. Nevertheless, check these out! Whether it be a hillside of heather at Sidling Hill or hot, boring desert along the Interstate in Utah, there's much to be seen!
