Our New Home in Fairfax, VA

Above, a view of our stairwell from the parking lot. All of our belongings entered through this stairway and then proceeded up to the 4th floor. Our apartment is on the back side of the building from here (follow the arrows).
Viewed from the sidewalk on the street side, here is our apartment. If you follow the yellow curb to the left, it goes through a gate. The first picture above was taken from the lot on the other side of the building.
A view of our balcony from one corner, near the utility closet. We have a doorway from the master bedroom and a sliding door from the living room. The walk-in closet for the spare bedroom is on the other side of the wall that is straight-ahead.
A view of the balcony from the other side. Note all the open space in this corner. We envision being able to put a table and lawn chairs out here, if we desired. Time will tell. It's sometimes hard to balance adding furniture against minimizing one's belongings to the necessities.
A view across the street (Monument Drive) from our balcony. Yes, that is in fact a brand new Wegmans. We hope that it will be opening soon! Last estimate we heard from property management was for a Jan/Feb opening
Please excuse the mess, we've only just moved into the place. This is our kitchen and to the left is the dining room (doubling as a mass storage area these days). You can't probably tell, but there is a ton of counter and cabinet space in the kitchen. The door in the back is to the laundry room, where we have a full-size washer and dryer, plus lots of storage space. The entry is to the right and you can see a small closet in the middle wall.
Please excuse the mess. This is a view of the living room from near the island counter in the kitchen. To the right is the doorway into the master bedroom. Here you can notice the vaulted ceiling and the sliding door to the balcony. That is a working gas fireplace. Both bedrooms and the living room have a ceiling fan.
Finally, the joy of Hanna's life (no, not me, silly). We have a large walk-in closet. To give you an idea of size, my dresser is to width-wise along the wall immediately to the left as you enter the closet. And then there is wire shelving at the middle height the length of the closet on both sides. We were able to fit all three hampers at the end with room to spare. Not two levels of wire shelves at the end. Hanna will likely be making increasing use of that space in the future.
